THE STORY OF KIDS CROSSING

Jan and Larry Faubion were foster parents together since 1978. (Prior to that, Jan had been a foster parent since 1963). In 1981, Elizabeth, better known as "Punkin," came to live with the Faubion's as a foster child.
Punkin was born a normal baby and then violently shaken when she was two months old and her brain damage was so severe that it froze her development to that of a two month old. The Faubion's received her from the hospital when she was four months old and were privileged to accept her into their family. Punkin was not expected to live past the next few months, however, ended up surprising everyone.
Punkin gave back, in terms of love and joy, everything she could possibly give-as you can see from the picture above. She was a tough little girl who was strong enough to live just long enough to celebrate her 24th birthday, sadly passing away in 2005.
Because of her spirit, Jan and Larry were inspired to open Kids Crossing, a non-profit Child Placement Agency in 1992. As foster parents, the Faubion's wanted to open a foster care agency with the mission of helping many more children like Punkin, coupled with the commitment and experience to support fellow foster parents.
