FACTS ABOUT KIDS CROSSING

OUR LOGO

In 2004, Mikayla, a 10 year old Palmer Lake 4th grader won Kids Crossing's logo contest.  Mikayla's picture (above) won and helped us to develop our logo and tag line, "Families Helping Families." (See actual logo above too).  Mikayla is one of seven children in her family, four of which have been adopted.  She has truly experienced "Families Helping Families" first hand!

OUR AGENCY

Kids Crossing is a non profit 501 (ac)3 agency that has been in business since 1992.  Kids Crossing is a child placement agency licensed by the State of Colorado.  Kids Crossing's license is current and in good standing with the Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Childcare. Kids Crossing has never been on probation and has never been on any type of placement hold.

Kids Crossing is a member of Foster Care Adoption Agencies of Colorado (FCAAC).

Foster Care and Adoption Agencies of Colorado (formerly the CPA Network) is a statewide membership association of private Child Placement Agencies.  Specifically, Foster Care & Adoption Agencies of Colorado (FCAAC) is comprised of twenty private, non profit Child Placement Agencies licensed by the State of Colorado to provide foster care and adoption services for children ages 0-18. At any given time, this network of agencies serves over 1240 foster children per night through over 500 foster homes that are represented by the agencies in the network, which geographically spread throughout all of Colorado.  Member agencies provide quality care for children within local communities by establishing and promoting best practice standards through education, training, resource development and advocacy for legislation to strengthen and support the foster care and adoption system in Colorado. Please click here to go to the FCAAC website.

In 2009, Kids Crossing served over 600 children, ages 0-18, in both group home and foster care throughout the Front Range.  Kids Crossing is the largest Child Placement Agency in Colorado with offices in Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo.  Kids Crossing has approximately 130 foster families, 10 group facilities and 40 staff.

Kids Crossing's largest referral sources are Denver, Pueblo, and El Paso County Departments of Human Services.  Additionally, Adams, Arapahoe, Jefferson, Teller, Fremont, Las Animas, Clear Creek, Bent, Elbert, Otero, Huerfano, Weld, Larimar, and many other counties in Colorado use Kids Crossing's homes.

Kids Crossing provides programs and services other than foster and group home care, including case management, case work (in Colorado Springs), clothing bank, family preservation, foster care adoption, therapy, and supervised visitation (in Colorado Springs and Pueblo).

Kids Crossing has an operating budget of $5 million.  In 2009, only 2% of our budget was spent on administrative support with the majority of the budget spent on direct, client services.  Kids Crossing's funding comes from contracts with County Departments of Human Services to provide case management, therapy, family preservation, supervised visitation, and case work services.  Kids Crossing receives Medicaid funding for therapeutic services as well.
