Donate to Kids Crossing

Your charitable gift can make a significant and immediate difference in the lives of the children and families we serve, and there are many ways to help.

Kids Crossing accepts gifts and in-kind donations consisting of gently used or new clothing, furniture, books, new toys, bicycles, and other items a foster child or family may benefit from.

In September, Kids Crossing searches for donors to participate in our annual holiday gift drive, which helps to provide gifts for foster children, biological and adopted children, and the biological families currently or recently involved with the agency. Gifts are collected throughout the month of December and labeled for each child. Holiday parties are then held in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Denver where the gifts are distributed to each child by Santa!

You may also consider sponsoring a foster family event! Kids Crossing holds various types of events and outings for our families throughout the year, and your contribution can help subsidize the costs of these events.

All donations are tax-deductible.

Donate to The Camp Faubion Fund

It costs $300 to send one youth to camp for the weekend. We average around 50 youth attending camp each year.
“Foster children are often excluded from opportunities like camp, due to their unique emotional/behavioral needs. Camp Faubion is a safe space for our foster youth to just be KIDS and be supported by caring, trauma-informed Kids Crossing staff. The camp environment and activities were created to help build self-esteem, problem-solving skills, strengthen relationships, and improve social skills. On average less than 5% of the children in our foster homes have been to an overnight camp and we are aiming to change that by offering this experience to youth in our foster homes every year!”

You can make a financial donation or an in-kind donation through Amazon to Camp Faubion. All donations are tax-deductible.

Donate to The Barb Christensen Fund

Research from leading neuroscientists and organizations like the American Dance Therapy Association has shown that dance and other activities can help decrease anxiety and depression in people who have experienced traumatic events. And all foster children have experienced some level of trauma. Being removed from your home and placed with strangers is a traumatic event in and of itself, and most children in foster care have also experienced abuse and neglect.

The Barb Christensen Fund helps provide funding for foster children to become involved in dance and the arts, such as joining a dance studio, taking art classes, or even help pay for supplies.

Barb was a native of Colorado Springs, and lived here nearly her entire life. She learned her love of the arts from her parents: her father loved music and dance, and her mother was an exceptional painter. Barb’s love of music, dance, and the arts enriched her childhood. Her passion for life and commitment to her community was exemplified in her lifetime of work to help others, tragically cut short at age 65 after a 28-year battle with cancer.

It’s only fitting that the Barb Christensen Fund has been created to support foster children by giving them an opportunity to learn dance and art in hopes they can find creative expressions of beauty in their often troubled world. Thank you for your generous donation.

Please add a note to your donation telling us you would like to designate it to the Barb Christensen Fund. All donations are tax-deductible.

Donate to The Maria Fund

Caring for multiple children, especially if any of them have special needs, can put an incredible strain on a family—emotionally, physically, and financially.

The Maria Fund helps our families take part in activities that might otherwise be out-of-reach due to the financial burden of caring for these children. Your donations to the Maria Fund can help pay for a family outing, extracurricular activities, or something as simple as a dinner date for the parents.

The Maria Fund was created to honor the memory of Maria Katherine Carino-Faubion. Because she was born hydrocephalic with only a brainstem, and needed constant, significant care, she was only give 30 days to live. She surprised everyone however, and at the age of seven months was placed with Larry and Jan Faubion (the founders of Kids Crossing). Thanks to the Faubion’s tireless love and support, Maria lived to be 22 years old, although her special needs prevented her and the Faubions from participating in daily activities enjoyed by “normal” children and families.

Your generous donation can make a huge difference in the lives of our foster families. Thank you for giving.

Please add a note to your donation telling us you would like to designate it to the Maria Fund. All donations are tax-deductible.
