Since 1992, Kids Crossing has grown to provide group homes and foster care in Colorado for over 250 children, ages 0-18, on any given day. These children have been the victims of abuse and/or neglect and often have developmental, medical, behavioral, and/or mental health needs. Our agency works closely with all Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) county agencies to provide temporary placement for children, and when appropriate, reunify the children with their biological parents or other family members. If reunification with family cannot safely occur and a child or sibling group needs an alternative plan for permanency, the children’s foster family may have the opportunity to consider adoption. Kids Crossing child placement agency believes all children, especially those involved in the child welfare system, deserve a permanent home where they are loved and cared for in a variety of family settings.
At Kids Crossing, foster parents are appreciated for their diversity. Some of our Colorado foster care parents provide short-term respite care, others have served 100’s of foster children, and other families want to grow through adoption. Some of our foster parents may be single parents, active military, working professionals, and ranchers on the eastern plains or urban families. Some of our foster parents take teens, others only infants, and some prefer working with medically fragile children. Some of our foster parents only want one child placed in their home, while others are happiest when every seatbelt in the family vehicle is filled. Most importantly, all of our foster parents are valued as integral members of a multi-disciplinary team.
Providing foster care in Colorado is tough, but as the largest child placement agency in the Colorado Springs area, Kids Crossing is here to support you. And before you know it, a smiling face will be one of the many side effects of foster care!
