Becoming a Foster Parent

If you’re looking for the opportunity to change a life, you’ve found it. Kids Crossing helps people just like you become foster parents every day.

Even as grown adults, many of us remember what it was like growing up in a stable home, and how that stability helped us mature and grow. But some of us also know what it’s like to not have that stability or a healthy relationship with our parents.

At Kids Crossing, we’re working to make sure kids in the foster care system have more good memories than bad. And every day, people like you are helping us by providing foster care to children that can change their lives forever.

Right now, Kids Crossing is seeking committed and loving individuals, couples, or families to work and grow with foster children. These children are between the ages of 0-18 and need short-term care, long-term care, and/or adoption, depending on their needs and your capacity. Experience with childcare is helpful, but it’s not required. However, being patient, caring, and understanding is a must!

Prospective foster parents must feel comfortable being a role model for healthy and happy individuals, as our children need a safe, nurturing, and stable home to grow. We want to build relationships with people who are fully willing to commit to our kids, as there can be some challenging times when you become a caregiver for our youth! But we know we can’t change a kid’s life without you, so Kids Crossing is here with resources, assistance, and support systems. If you’re a good fit for our kids, we’re a good fit for you.

A New Kind of Foster Home

Needs Based Homes are a new type of family foster home developed by Kids Crossing. While regular foster homes can have up to four foster children, Needs Based Homes are certified for up to six. These homes provide care for children who require foster care services with a bit higher level of care and coordination.

As these kids have more substantial needs, our reimbursement rates for Needs Based Homes are significantly higher than those for regular foster care homes, often enough for a Needs Based Home parent to not have another job. After all, caring for the children and youth is a full-time job, and we believe you should be compensated accordingly.

We need you! To start the foster care journey, attend an informational meeting, watch our informational webinar, or request more information about becoming a foster parent.
